We arrived in Boston at 5:30 am. I had slept since we got on the plane, so I wasn't too tired. John got bumped by a suitcase on the shuttle bus to the car rental area and totally bent his glasses out of shape. Fortunately, he brought an extra pair.
When we picked up our rental car we declined the "bring it back empty" option where you pay the price of a whole tank of gas at the highest rate available in a given area. When we picked up the car, and the rental agent on the floor decided to change our option and compass the bring it back empty thing and gave us a car with a full tank of gas. I miss read the gauge, and we stopped and bought gas and I way overfilled it, because I couldn't believe a half full tank would only take a gallon of gas. By the way, gas was only $2.05 a gallon. We stopped and had breakfast, then we're going to stop at a nearby Costco to get johns glasses fixed, but it was still only 9 am, and they weren't open yet. anyway,
after three false starts, we made it out of Boston. It's only about 50 miles from Boston to Ogunquit, our first stop, but we stopped at two visitor centers, New Hampshire and Maine, to be properly welcomed into the respective states.
We spent about an hour in the cute little town of York, half of that time divided between the small art gallery and the library book sale, where I bought some CDs to listen to in the car. Checked out our first Maine beach here too.
We arrived in Ogunquit at about noon, feeling like it was late in the day, but it was still way to early to check in to our hotel. Amazing how it is when you get up at 5 am.
Finally it was time to check in to our hotel, the Gorges Grant, so we could go have a little nap!
We had dinner at one of the thousand cute restaurants in town, Preggo, did the compulsory shopping, came home and fell asleep.
A few mishaps might be indicators that everything will be smooth from now on! Great photos of both of you and of the pretty hotel, beaches, dinner.
