WE ARE IN CANADA

We had a great flight on Air Canada today.  I think it was about five hours. Right away it felt like a foreign trip because they do all announcements in French and English.  Talk about cheap, though.  They don't even give you chips or peanuts for free.  We bought a sandwich on board, and it was a pretty sorry affair.  Especially since they offered pizza but didn't have it by the time they got to us.  Still, that's today's airline travel.  On the other hand, I  got lucky on the plane.  They had tv shows available and one of them was the new House of Cards.  I don't know what channel it's on at home, but obviously some cable channel. I got to see four episodes, and I'm totally hooked.   I can only hope when we fly home they have some different episodes.

Our flight left at the very civilized hour of noon, and we arrived about 8 pm.  They have a great bus that runs from the airport to the bus station and it was only about 5 blocks to the hotel from the bus.

Our hotel is right in the middle of the old town of Montreal which is cobblestoned pedestrian streets with dozens of sidewalk cafes and restaurants.  It's Old Sac on steroids, and of course this city is a couple hundred years older.  Can't wait to eat there tomorrow.  Lots of places had moules and frites.

We walked around for a while, had some gelato which comes in many favors, all of which are sweetened with maple syrup.  Not surprisingly, we had chocolate, and it was wonderful, definitely chocolate, but a little undercurrent of maple syrup.

I think we're going to the 18th century public market at the archeological museum.  I think it's a sort of Renaissance fair type of event.
I think this is glass.  Saw it in a window tonight.  Can't wait to see it tomorrow when I can go inside this building.
