LAST YEAR OF THE WORLD

This is the last year of the world, according to the Aztec, or the Mayan calendar.  Not just those crazy Johnny-come-lately Christians, but the real end of the world according to astrologers.

What does this mean for the presidential election?  Even though I really, really, really believe the world is going to end, it still doesn't make any sense to me that anybody would vote for any of these crazies.  But perhaps the Republican hopefuls are signifiers of end time changes.

If you want to know about the Mayan/Aztec calendar, from a very authoritative source, you might want to check this website

Zoe and I haven't floated our boats this year, but we're still planning to do it sometime in the next week or so.   If we don't get it done, we're going to float them down the Seine when we go on our river cruise at the end of March.

In the meantime, I spent the day taking down lights, Christmas trees, house decorations, etc., and John, bless his heart, painted the kitchen cabinets.  He still has to put the second coat on tomorrow, but he has done the whole job pretty much himself.  We decided to redo the cabinets even though the world is ending, because the end won't be until December 21st anyway, so we have practically a year to enjoy the cabinets.

Tonight we had a rehearsal for our Baroque and Beyond group.  We have a concert next Wednesday, and I think it's shaping up to be okay.  It would probably be better if we had a couple more rehearsals, but it will be pretty good anyway.  I've set myself up for failure because I think one of the pieces should be played with organ instead of harpsichord, but that means I have to read it down a half step because they're all playing at 415, and the organ is at 440.  But I think it will work and be a fun challenge.
